Impossible for BJP to make India Congress Free Country – Harish Kumar During Black Day Observation

Mangaluru: The Congress party workers observed the black day to mark the anniversary of demonetization by the NDA government in front of DCC office here on November 8.

Addressing the protesters District Congress President Harish Kumar said, “Last year all of a sudden the NDA government led by PM Narendra Modi demonetized currency notes of Rs 1000 and 500. During the demonetization, PM Modi said that in order to curb corruption and to bring back the black money he had initiated this move. But the demonetization has turned as blessings only for the rich and has been a curse for the poor people. After demonetization, people started to stand in long queues to withdraw their hard earned money and more than 150 people lost their lives. Hundreds of industries shut down and thousands of people lost their jobs. Corporate companies cut down employees. There was also a slump in the GDP.”

Harish Kumar further said, “During the elections, Modi said that if he would become the PM he would bring back the black money from Swiss banks and credit Rs 15 lakh into the account of each citizen. But after three-and-half years of coming to power, he is still unable to trace the black money. Why did he not credit Rs 15 lakh into the accounts of the citizens? The system of GST implemented is not appropriate as such a system of GST does not exist anywhere in the world. If anyone goes to the hotel to have food they too are charged 28% GST.”

Harish Kumar also said, “Our former prime ministers Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi had worked for the welfare of the people of this country but the present NDA government is in favour of the corporate world. PM Modi is talking about Mann Ki Baat through the radio but so far he has not met the media nor has he given an interview to the TV channels because if he meets the Journalists they will question him about the present situation of the country. If he talks on the radio we have no choice but only listen to his Mann Ki Baat. Modi calls himself a ‘fakir’ (ascetic), but he is spending his time travelling all over the world. During his visit to other countries, he insults the opposition parties which is an insult to our country. Even when we had asked to waive the farmer’s loan, Jaitley said that if the farmers’ loan is waived, they will become lazy. The BJP is insulting the farmers saying that the farmers commit suicide because of their bad habits. BJP says that they will make India a Congress-free country which is impossible for any political party because people are aware of the BJP and its hidden agenda.”

Addressing the protesters, Minister for Food and Civil Supplies U T Khader said, “On November 8, 2016, the BJP led by PM Narendra Modi demonetized Rs 1000 and Rs 500 currency notes which we are observing as a black day. Today our mother India is weeping because of the economic crisis created by the NDA government. When there was an economic crisis in other countries, India helped them financially but now we are facing a financial crisis in our country. Former prime minister Manmohan Singh commented on demonetization and said that it is a monumental disaster but the BJP is not ready to accept their mistake. Even when Rahul Gandhi commented on demonetization and said that Narendra Modi invited disaster through demonetization, the BJP criticized Rahul Gandhi. Modi should release the white paper on demonetization and inform the people of the benefits the country got through demonetization.”

Minister Khader further said, “Modi said that through demonetization he will curb the fake currency but within three days of releasing the new currency, there were fake Rs 2000 notes. Whatever Modi has said he has failed to fulfill it. Modi is unable to bring back the black money because those who had black money they were aware of the demonetization on November 8 and took all measures to convert the currency. If Modi has a real concern of the people of this country let him release a white paper on the present status of the Economy of the country. During the demonetization, more than 150 people lost their lives but there was no sympathy from the BJP to the departed souls. Let the BJP government release the names of the deceased who died during the demonetization. If Modi and Jaitley are unable to handle the Economy of the country let they take the advice from Manmohan Singh.”

MLA of Mangaluru South Constituency J R Lobo and Chief Whip Ivan D’Souza also spoke on the occasion. Mayor Kavitha Sanil, Sashidhar Hegde, Suresh Ballal and others were also present.
