Inaugural CME Workshop on Autoimmune Disorders Conducted by Father Muller Medical College in Collaboration with CPC Diagnostics

Mangalore: Father Muller Medical College’s Department of Microbiology, in association with CPC Diagnostics, Chennai, successfully hosted the inaugural Continuing Medical Education (CME) and workshop titled “Clinical and Laboratory Perspectives of Autoimmune Disorders”,. The event, held to raise awareness and deepen understanding of autoimmune conditions, marked an important step toward bridging knowledge gaps in this critical area of healthcare.

The event commenced with a prayer song, setting a reflective tone for the day’s proceedings. Dr. Rose M D’Souza, Assistant Professor, and Ms. Swathi Panagal, Lecturer from the Department of Microbiology, served as the Masters of Ceremony.

Dr. Thomas S K, Professor, Department of Microbiology, and Organizing Secretary of the event, welcomed the gathering, highlighting the importance of continued medical education in confronting the growing prevalence of autoimmune disorders.

The program was formally inaugurated by Chief Guest Ms. Srimika Khismatrao, Group Product Manager, CPC Diagnostics, Chennai, who lit the ceremonial lamp. She spoke about the significance of continuous learning and how knowledge in the medical field plays a vital role in overcoming the challenges of tomorrow. With a 12-year collaboration between CPC Diagnostics and Father Muller, she emphasized the company’s commitment to advancing diagnostic technology to meet medical demands.

The Director of Father Muller Charitable Institutions (FMCI), Rev. Fr. Richard Aloysius Coelho, presided over the inaugural function. In his address he highlighted healthcare, emphasizing that while diseases have evolved, so has the ability of the medical field to combat them. He stressed the importance of timely diagnosis and reporting, which ensures timely patient care.

Other distinguished attendees included Dr. Antony Sylvan D’Souza, Dean of Father Muller Medical College, and Dr. Meena Dias, Professor and Head of the Department of Microbiology and Organizing Chairperson.

The event also featured expert resource persons, including *Dr. Michelle Fernandes, Professor, Dept of Dermatology; **Dr. Manjunath J, Professor and Head of the Dept of Nephrology; and **Dr. Sahana Baliga*, Assistant Professor, Dept of Rheumatology. These specialists provided insightful talks on various aspects of autoimmune conditions.

Concluding the program, *Dr. Anup K Shetty*, Professor, Dept of Microbiology, and Joint Organizing Secretary, delivered the vote of thanks, extending appreciation to all participants and contributors. A special mention was made to Mr. Amith and his team from CPC Diagnostics, who will be facilitating a hands-on workshop scheduled for the following day, further enhancing practical skills in diagnosing autoimmune disorders.
