Inauguration of Konkani Sangh at St Aloysius College
Mangaluru : The inauguration of Konkani Sangh for the year 2018-19 was organised on 29th June 2018 at 3.30 pm at Fr Robert Sequiera Hall, LCRI block. The programme began by invoking God’s blessings. Rev. Fr. Melwin Pinto,SJ the Director of Radio Sarang and Konkani Institute was the guest of honour and Rony D’Cunha, a renowned singer was the chief guest. After the inauguration the Chief Guest unveiled the logo of Konkani Sangh.
“Parzal” the annual magazine of Konkani Sangh was released by Rev. Fr Melwin Pinto. ‘Parzal is a collection of students’ talents in the form of Konkani poems, stories, articles’. Ms Josna Dsouza is the Editor of ‘Parzal’.
Rony D’Cunha in his address exclaimed his happiness about the importance given to Konkani language in St Aloysius College and promised to give all his support and wished good luck for the future programs. Rev. Fr Melwin Pinto in his address urged the gathering to be proud about our Konkani language and also showcase our talents for the glory of Konkani and its traditions.
The members of the Konkani Sangh entertained the gathering by singing the mando. Mr. Rony D’Cunha entertained the gathering by singing a melodious song of Late. Wilfy Rebimbus. Presidents of the Konkani Sangh, Ms Renita Menezes and Ms Renita Aranha, Konkani Department Staff Ms Flora Castelino, Secretaries Lashwina Monteiro and Meghal D’Cunha were present on this occasion.
Ms Renita Menezes the President of the Konkani Sangh welcomed the gathering. Ms Nishel compered the program. Ms Meghal D’Cunha proposed the vote of thanks
Creation of a Konkany Sangha at St. Aloysius was a marvelous idea. It helps the Konkany speakers and makes them feel proud that the language is getting more prominence in the Jesuit College where there are substantial number of Konkany speakers. People will only realize the value of knowing an additional language like Konkany when you are far away scattered from the native land.
