Incessant Rains, Schools in Udupi District Declared Holiday
Udupi: The district deputy commissioner, Priyanka Mary Francis has declared two days of holiday to all schools across the district following heavy rains.
Rainfall has been particularly heavy in Udupi district and its surrounding areas from the last two days.
As heavy rain continues to lash the region, the district administration has declared a holiday for all schools and PU colleges on May 29 and 30 as a precautionary measure.
According to the KSNDMC forecast, under the influence of the well-marked low-pressure area over the southeast Arabian Sea off Karnataka coast, widespread heavy rains are very likely in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Uttara Kannada and adjoining Malnad districts today.
The Southwest monsoon is likely to hit Kerala today and will extend to the Karnataka coast by tomorrow.
