Taipei, May 23 (IANS) Three Indian boxers, Savita, Mandeep Sandhu and Sakshi clinched gold medals, while Soniya and Gonella Niharika won silver medals in the AIBA Women’s Junior World Boxing Championships here on Saturday.
In the 50 kg category, Savita defeated Ukranian Rohova Kateryna 3-0 in the final, while in the 52 kg event, Mandeep defeated Irish Earley Niamh 3-0 in the title round.
In the 54 kg competition, Sakshi moved past American Ramirez Yansel 3-0 to give India its third yellow metal.
However, Soniya lost 1-2 against American Garcia Heaven in the 48 kg category. Gonelia came a cropper against Russia’s Sigaeva Anastaciia, who won 3-0 in the title clash of the 70 kg competition.
