Hastings (New Zealand), April 18 (IANS) The Indian women’s hockey team lost their 5-8 position match of the Hawke’s Bay Cup 0-3 against the US at the Hastings Sports Park here on Saturday.
Kathleen Sharkey scored the opener with Katie O’Donnell adding two more for the US. India failed to score even a single goal.
While the US progressed to the 5-6 position match, India will play the 7-8 spot playoff on Sunday against Japan, who also lost their classification match 2-3 to Argentina.
The Hawke’s Bay Cup is an eight-nation tournament comprising Argentina, Australia, China, India, Japan, South Korea, the US and hosts New Zealand.
