Indian Coast Guard Karnataka Celebrates 5th International Yoga Day

Mangaluru: Indian Coast Guard in Karnataka celebrated 5th International Yoga Day on 21st June 2019 with the enthusiastic participation of officers, men in uniform and civilian employees at its Headquarters in New Mangaluru.

On this occasion, the No.3 Coast Guard District (Karnataka) organized practice sessions on Yoga for officers, men in uniform and civilian staff. Participants were introduced to Yogasanas, Kapalbhati, Pranayama, Dhyana, Sankalpa and Meditation as per the common protocol issued by Ministry of Ayush, Govt. of India. An enthralling practice session with demonstrations was coupled with talks on Yoga and “Yoga Darshan” by Brahmakumaris from Mangalur

The IYD-2019 celebrations started with lighting of lamp by the officiating Commander,Coast Guard Karnataka, Commandant RK Sharma in presence of Brahmakumaris (Daughter of Brahma). The Commander enlightened the gathering about yoga, benefits of practicing yoga in everyday life and highlighted the potential for customization to suit the individual. Brahmakumaris delivered an excellent talk on “Form of meditation that focuses on identity as souls, as opposed to bodies” and educated the participants.

All officers and men in uniform from Coast Guard Air Enclave, 75 Air Cushion Vehicle Squadron, Indian Coast Guard Ships Amartya, Rajdoot and Savitribai Phule at the disposal of No. 3 Coast Guard District Karnataka at New Mangaluru participated in the event.

Braving the rough and adverse seas, Indian Coast Guard ships Vikram and Kasturba Gandhi showcased the importance of Yoga in ensuring Safe and Secure Coast for the people of country while patrolling the high seas.
