Indian Coast Guard Rescues 7 Crew on board Motor Sailing Vessel MV SG Star

 

Mangaluru : As per the press release from Commander Dasilla, it stated that Indian Coast Guard Ship Savitribai Phule helped a Motor Sailing Vessel MV SG Star with port of registration New Mangaluru, with seven crew on board after its engine developed a technical snag when the ship was over 65 nautical miles from Mangaluru.

ICGS Savitribai Phule on coastal surveillance patrol off Karnataka-Goa Coast was diverted to render the assistance on 25 December 2019 on receipt information from the Headquarters, Coast Guard Region(West), Mumbai. Damage Control Team, along with Technical Team of ICGS Savitribai Phule, embarked on the vessel MV SG Star in distress and controlled the flooding and restored the vessels main engine. The vessel entered Mangalore Old Port on 26 Dec 2019 safely.

The details of MV SG Star are:- (a) Type of vessel – Dhow; (b) Crew – 07 ; (c) Nationality – Indian; (d) LPC – Kalpeni; (e) NPC – Mangalore Old Port; and (f) Cargo – Ballast
