India’s men’s hockey team has maintained a record of winning 100% in their tour of Belgium in their last match as they beat the hosts 5–1 in the final match.

The Indian team won all the five matches of hockey, defeating Belgium 2–0 in the first match, and winning 6–1 and 5–1 over Spain in the other two matches, right before ending their tour with two wins against Belgium key (2–1) and (5–1).

In the previous match, Simranjit Singh (7 ‘), Lalit Kumar Upadhyay (35’), Vivek Sagar Prasad (36 ‘), Harmanpreet Singh (42’) and Ramandeep Singh (43) all scored goals for India.

Coming into the match with four wins in their kitty, India was confident. The side started the game on the front foot and produced a fiery move in the 7th minute to put Simranjit Singh ahead.

Belgium tried to bounce back but their penalty corner was saved by Krishna B Pathak in the 9th minute. In the second quarter match, world number two Belgium won them continues penalty corners in only 16 minutes, but India’s readers ensured that their lead remained intact.

The spectators began the third quarter with a deliberate attack and were immediately rewarded, with Upadhyay giving his first goal of the match a 2–0 lead in the 35th minute.

The next minute saw another attack in which young Prasad registered his name on the score-sheet, as he produced a clever finish to defeat the Belgian goalkeeper.

Belgium won the penalty corner in the 38th minute, but Sreejesh’s diving saves put the score in India’s favor 3–0. However, a superb strike from Ritek by Alexander Hendrick took a 3–1 lead in the 39th minute.

But Belgium could not last much longer in the match as India responded with a winning goal twice in the two minutes just before the end of the third quarter to extend their lead to 5–1.

India’s 4th goal was achieved by drag as well flicker Harmanpreet, who converted a penalty corner only in 42 minutes, while the 5th goal achieved by Ramandeep, who ended the superb team moves in the 43 minutes.

Playing at own country and own home field, the world champion keep trying to enter the Indian strike circle, but some strong tackling and defending in the last quarter meant that the Indians kept their 100% record in five matches, and went on to win 5–1 achieved from the tour.
