IndiGo has landed at Mangaluru International Airport- Daily 2 Flights to Bengaluru and 1 flight to Mumbai
Mangaluru: After a much wait to operate their flights from Mangaluru International Airport, IndiGo- India’s largest airline with a market share of 39.9% as of March 2017, and one of the fastest growing low cost carriers in the world as per CAPA, continuing its commitment to provide increased connectivity and affordable air travel experience for its passengers, had today, Monday 1 May 2017 operated its maiden flight from Mangaluru to Bengaluru. The inaugural flight 6E 6724 was greeted with the traditional water cannon salute after it landed at Mangaluru International airport from Bengaluru.
Following this there was a lamp lighting ceremony to inaugurate the occasion, which was done by Nalin Kumar Kateel, Member of Parliament, Dakshina Kannada, along Ramanath Rai, State Minister of Forests and District In-charge; Abhaychandra Jain, Member of Legislative Assembly; J R Lobo , Member of Mangaluru South Legislative Assembly; MIA Director Radhakrishna; and esteemed members from the Airport Authority of India, including corporate members of IndiGo.
At the moment, IndiGo will be operating three flights-two to Bengaluru, and one to Mumbai. Yet another flight from Mangaluru to Bengaluru will be added on May 15. All the flights in service are Airbus 320 with 180 seating capacity in each, which will further improve the passenger travelling capacity of the airport. Speaking to Team Mangalorean, Charnel D’souza- Associate Vice President of IndiGo said, “We are indeed delighted to launch our operations from Mangaluru to cater to the long pending demand for direct frequent flights from the city. The new flights have been designed to cater to business and leisure travelers who are constantly on the lookout for convenient and affordable flying options. In line with our endeavour to provide hassle-free travel experience, the direct flights from Mangaluru will offer flexibility to passengers to fly to other domestic and international sectors on 6E network.”
Also speaking to Team Mangalorean, Ms Archana Kumar – Manager-IndiGo Mangaluru said, ” IndiGo presently will operate three daily flights from Mangaluru, of which two flights will depart to Bengaluru and the other flight will depart to Mumbai. From May 15, additional IndiGo flight from Mangaluru to Bengaluru will be added. Mangaluru to Bengaluru flight is scheduled to depart at 7 am, and the other one in the evening at 4.20 pm daily, while Mangaluru to Mumbai flight is scheduled at 12 noon daily. The other flight which will be added on May 15, from Mangaluru to Bengaluru will depart at 10 pm. These flight timings will be very convenient for the passengers and our flight charges are quite reasonable”.
