Infant Jesus Shrine Holds Muhurat of Konkani Stage play ‘Hanv Soth Sangtham’

Mangaluru: The Muhurat for the stage play titled “Hanv Soth Sangtham“ to be staged on the April 5 at 6 pm on St Agnes Special School grounds, was held at Carmel Hill, Bikarnakatte here on March 1.

Carmel Kiran the official YouTube Channel of Infant Jesus Shrine along with Mangalore Philharmonic Choir will be staging the stage play. Fr Ronald Serrao, Rector of Jeppu Seminary has translated the stage play from English original by Ladislas Fodor.

The stage play is based on the theme of Resurrection of Jesus and this is an apt theme to meditate on the same as we are about to enter into the Holy Week. Renowned artists from in and around Mangaluru will be showcasing their talents.

Joel Pereira will be coordinating the whole show and directing the stage play alongside with veteran directors Arthur Rasquinha and Jerome Moras. Since this stage play involves both virtual and real stage presentation he said that this could be better termed as a dramatic presentation rather than a real theatrical one.

Speaking about the stage play Fr Ronald said that he had translated the stage play “Hanv Soth Sangtham” long time back yet the right opportunity has arrived now to stage it. He narrated the summary of the stage play and wished all the actors and directors all the best.

Fr Pius James D Souza the Episcopal Vicar of Religious said that such stage play is rarely played these days unlike in the past and need a lot of perseverance. With the entire crew, Joel has managed to gather this drama will be a very great success.

Fr Wilfred Rodrigues the Superior of St Joseph’s Monastery said that Resurrection is more than a historic event, it is a meta historic event. We are indeed privileged to proclaim it and dramatics is one of the innovative ways how we can proclaim Christ to the world of today. He thanked Joel Pereira the Maestro, a rare multitalented personality, for undertaking this project and promised wholehearted cooperation by the Carmelites.

Earlier, Fr Alwyn Sequeira, the Coordinator of Carmel Kiran led the prayer and Carmelite Brothers invoked Gods blessings. Kenny Pereira will be directing the Music and Cliyon and Quintus D Souza will be preparing the visuals. Arun Electricals will be in charge of lights and Arun of Rose Arrangers will be setting the stage. Carmel Audio and Video Studio staff will be coordinating the practices and recordings. Though this drama is free yet the generous contribution is solicited from people of goodwill to meet the expenses.
