Installation of Ganesh Idol in Public Places Not Allowed – DC Dr Rajendra

Mangaluru: “The state government has issued guidelines to be followed during the Ganeshotsava celebrations which will be held from August 22. According to the order of the state government, the installation of Ganesh Idol in public places and public processions will be not allowed”, said the deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada Dr Rajendra in a press statement on August 16.

According to the government guidelines: 

  • The installation of the Ganesh Idol in public places is not allowed.
  • The Ganesh idol will not be immersed in public places such as ponds, rivers or wells.
  • Procession while taking the Ganesh Idol for immersion is not allowed.
  • Those who erect the Ganesh Idol in their houses should also immerse it within their premises.
  • Temples celebrating Ganeshotsava should sanitize the Temple premises every day, and the Temple authorities should arrange a thermal screening and sanitizers for devotees who come there for the Darshan. The Temple authorities should strictly follow the guidelines of the state government and see that all the devotees who enter the Temple should wear the mask and maintain social distancing during the visit.
  • During the celebrations, the authorities should follow the guidelines of the government, district administration, police, MCC, and local bodies.
  • The celebrations are to create peace, harmony, and brotherhood in the society and the Ganeshotsava should be celebrated in such a manner without violating law and order in society.
  • Those who violate the guidelines will be punished under the Disaster Management Act, 2005 section 188.
