Inter-District Robbers Gang Busted, 4 held
Karkala: The Karkala police arrested four persons of an inter-district gang in connection with the serial robbery in Karkala and recovered Rs 8.80 lakh worth belongings.
The arrested have been identified as Sajid Rehman (19) resident of Belapu, Ameeruddin(27) of Karkala Banglegudde, Maroof (21) of Bhatkal and Nataraj (24).
On February 4 unidentified persons had made away with 21 sovereign gold and Rs One lakh cash from the house of Yashodha of Banglegudde Karkala. Receiving a tip-off the police arrested Sajid and Ameeruddin on Feb 12 and recovered Rs 7500. During interrogation, the accused admitted that four others were also involved in the robbery case. As per their information police started their search for the other accused, they stopped a car near Murathangadi Check post and succeed in arresting Maroof and Natraj. Three others managed to escape from the spot.
The police have recovered some of the stolen gold, Rs 6500 cash, a car and weapons all worth Rs 8.80 lakh from the accused. The accused are involved in various chain snatching cases in Udupi and Uttarkannada districts. They were produced before the court and sent to judicial custody for 14 days.
