International Volleyball player, Ekalvaya Awardee Anup D’Costa Injured in Accident
Kundapur: International Volleyball player and Ekalvaya awardee Anup D’Çosta met with an accident in Siddapur near Kundapur Taluk on November 5.
According to sources Anup D’Costa was returning from his relative’s house on his Bullet motorbike. On the way back home near Siddapura, the Bike skidded and Anup fell on the road. Injured Anup was rushed to the KMC hospital in Manipal. Anup is said to be out of danger. The pillion rider escaped with minor injuries.
Anup D’Costa is a native of Kundapur and works for the Income Tax department in Hyderabad. He has represented U21 and U23 FIVB World Cup in Tehran, Iran and Turkey. He was judged the best scorer of the World Cup tournament. He has also represented the Indian National Senior Team and Karnataka State Team. He plays in the Universal Attacker position, with his fabulous jumps and attacking capacity, to watch him in action is a feast to the eyes of volleyball fans. Karnataka Government had recently awarded him the prestigious “Ekalavya Award” for his contribution to Volleyball in 2015.
