Introduction of ‘Utkrisht’ Rake in Maveli Express
Mangaluru: The first UTKRISHT rake allotted to Palakkad Division was introduced in the the rake link of Maveli Express at the Mangaluru Central on 5 February 2019. This is the fifth such rake being introduced over the Sourhern Railway.
The UTKRISHT rake consists of renovated coaches with number of passenger friendly features.
Some of the features are:
• Poly urethane (PU) painting with new colour scheme with Apricot colour in main body and red at the ends.
• Epoxy flooring in toilets to avoid water stagnation and improved cleanliness
• Hydrophobic coating in wash basin
• Double acting doors inside AC coaches
• LED lighting
• Toilet occupation indication board in AC coaches
• Auto janitors
• Health faucet in toilets
• Digital clock in AC coaches
• Coach indicators inside coaches
• Train time table etc.
• Quality coach indication boards.
• Improved belly boards in SLR coaches.
• Standard Braille Signage
• Provision of fire extinguishers in reserved coaches
• Bio-toilets in all coaches.
At present four rakes are being used to maintain the link of Maveli Express. Conversion of other three rakes will be completed in phased manner.
Refurbishing of Coaches to Utkrisht standard is being carried out at Southern Railway work shops – Carriage Works Perambur and in Golden Rock Work shop, Ponmalai, Tiruchchirpapalli.
