Introductory Session on CA Foundation at St Aloysius College-Harihar, a Unit of MJES

Do you have learn-ability? inquired CA Lionel Aranha during an Introductory session on CA Foundation for the commerce students organized at St Aloysius College-Harihar in the college auditorium

Mangaluru : Guests for the day and resource persons were CA Naveen N and CA Lionel Aranha .CA Naveen N interacted with the students on the field of Chartered Accountancy and what are the ways the exam can be attempted. He spoke on the foundation course, which is to be attempted right after II PUC, after nine months of registration. Once the foundation course is cleared , students can appear for the intermediate exam, which consists of two exams. This is followed by articleship under a practising CA. He also mentioned there is an option to skip foundation course and opt for direct intermediate exam, if the student has already completed degree. He gave an understanding of the work a CA does, as in Taxation, Auditing and Accounting.

CA Lionel Aranha ,stressed on the fact that ,nothing in the world is difficult, in fact all students are clever in all ways and means. He encouraged the students to opt for other fields or courses , where Medicine, Engineering, CA is not ultimate. He asked the students to make use of the resources and then go along with the herd mentality .He added on some tips on how anyone can be successful .Most basic out of all is improving communication skill, both verbal and non verbal, building personality in terms of awareness and knowledge. Updating oneself through current affairs ,general knowledge, reading novels and books is must, which builds vocabulary and unconsciously shapes one’s personality. He inquired the students , Do you have learn-ability ? , Do you go beyond your subject? And Are you a team player?

With this thoughts and information being shared, students posed questions as to how to strike a balance between degree studies and focusing on CA course, while another students asked about the subjects involved in clearing this exam. At the end of queries and responses, Ms Deepthi Dsouza ,Department of Commerce delivered the Vote of Thanks as well as compered the session .Ms Shimmi Raj, Department of English, welcomed the gathering. The session ended at 4.30 PM.
