IPS officer Madhukar Shetty cremated with full State Honours

Udupi: The body of IPS officer Madhukar Shetty who died due to H1N1 in Hyderabad, was cremated in his hometown Yadadi with full State honours on Sunday, December 30.

A three-round gun salute in the presence of D R Doley Barman Director of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel National Police Academy preceded the burial of the officer’s body amidst wails by family members, relatives and well-wishers.

The coffin was brought from Bengaluru by flight to Mangaluru Airport and from there by road, accompanied by family members, his classmate and state urban development minister U T Khader and the team of IPS officers from Hyderabad and Karnataka. The Body of IPS officer was kept for public viewing.

Various senior rank IPS officers from Hyderabad and Karnataka including Stephen Ravindra, Madhusudhan Reddy, G S Rao, Amritha Das, ADGP Prathap Reddy, IGP Vipul Kumar, SP Bhushan Borase, Labhuram, IGP Arun Chakravarthi, Vinayak Patil, T R Suresh Commissioner Mangaluru, Dr Ravikanthe Gowda SP Mangaluru, Laxman Nimbaragi SP Udupi and many more IPS officers paid their last respect to their colleague.

On behalf of the State government state urban development minister, U T Khader paid his last respect to the IPS officer. The Deputy commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis, Additional DC Vidya Kumari, Leader of Opposition for legislative council Kota Srinivas Poojary, Kundapur MLA Haladi Srinivas Shetty, Byndoor MLA Sukumar Shetty, former MP Jayaprakash Hegde offered their last respects to the honest officer.

The deceased IPS officer’s brothers Sudhakar, Muralidhar, daughter Samya and elder brother’s son Sarang lit the pyre.

A large number of mourners bid a tearful and emotional farewell to their hometown’s son.
