Mangaluru: MUDA Chairman, Ibrahim Kodijal held a press meet at the District Congress Office here, on March 21.

Addressing the mediapersons, Kodijal said, “The administrative officer of Mahalingeshwara temple in Puttur is the Deputy Commissioner. Although he is a Muslim, it is legally right to include his name in the invitation of the temple festival. The fact that people are protesting against this is a sign of rise in intolerance within the district.”

He said that if people of all religions come forward to celebrate a festival together, then it brings glory to the organizer of the festival. “In my Gram, people of all religions come together and celebrate festivals with communal harmony,” Kodijal said. Ramanath Rai was a real Hindu since he has never differentiated between people of other religions and is treating everyone equally. “Ramanath Rai should be a model for everyone,” he added.

He gave examples of many incidents of intolerance within the nation like, the Dadri lynching in UP and the incident in Jharkhand which saw two cattle traders being murdered. “I would like to ask the BJP leaders and the Sangh Parivar, isn’t this an act of terrorism?”

Kodijal further said that even Prime Minister Narendra Modi has declared that Islam is a religion that stands for peace. “Hinduism also promotes peace in the Vedas. BJP needs to rectify their tactics and stop promoting communalism. Many indulge in delivering provocative speeches and sow the poisonous seeds of hatred,” he added.

He congratulated Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah for giving a people friendly budget and said that the budget was a model budget which is beneficial to everyone. “The Congress Party was supposed to win the Panchayat elections in the District. But due to the communal tactics of the opposition, we have lost. However, In the coming Vidhana Sabha elections, we will aim to secure a majority,” Kodijal said.

Former Mayor, Shashidhar Hegde and others were also present.

“He gave examples of many incidents of intolerance within the nation like, the Dadri lynching in UP and the incident in Jharkhand….” – Report quoting some unknown leader holding a mic

Isn’t it very convenient to see these examples limited to sanaathana dharma? No mention of Kashmeer, Mumbai attacks or hundreds of daily peaceful acts by ‘Idli-Sambaar’ group!!
