It’s Exam & ‘Testing Time’ Again! 26,942 II PUC Students in DK Answer their last Pending English Subject
Mangaluru: Indeed a ‘testing time’ for over 6 lakhs of II PUCstudents who turned up at their respective examination centres for II PUC exam for the last pending subject (English) amidst COVID-19 pandemic fear, across the Karnataka state, and a total of 26,942 students wrote the PUC exam at 51 examination centres in Dakshina Kannada. 47 buses ferried 1,043 students from the border areas of Kerala to the respective examination centres. The students were asked to be present at the designated place to board the bus at 7 am and appear for the exam along with their hall ticket and identity card.
Twenty-two KSRTC buses and 11 school buses have been arranged from Talapady toll gate near Mariyashrama church, two each KSRTC buses from Punyakoti Nagara in Mudipu, Bayar and Anekal in Vittal border, one KSRTC bus from Pathur in Kurnadu border, three KSRTC buses from Saradka in Vittal border, school buses from Kayar Padav in Puttur border, Panjikallu and Karike in Sullia border and Alatti Baddadka had been arranged. The Dakshina Kannada district administration has made arrangements for the KSRTC and school buses to help students from Kerala studying in Dakshina Kannada to write II PUC English exam today.

All students were asked to mandatory wear a mask and use sanitiser before entering the examination centres. The college principals where students from Kerala are studying had been asked to deploy staff to make arrangements to ensure that students reach the examination centres on time and get back home after the exam. As per sources from St Aloysius PU College, Mangaluru, all the 50 classes where 965 students from St Agnes PU College, Bendore-Mangaluru and Govt PU College-Kavoor-Mangaluru appeared for the exam today, were thoroughly sanitized yesterday. While the students entered the main entrance of the college, they were hand sanitized and temperature check was done. All the required arrangements had been done for the exam to go on smoothly. Nearly 1900 St Aloysius PUC students appeared for their exam, at Canara PU College and Sharada College, both in the City.
Sources reveal that as many as 51 examination centres with 1,100 classrooms were used to conduct the examinations. The students underwent thermal screening at the entrance of the examination centres. If any student was found suffering from fever, then they were made to write the examinations in a separate room. Two rooms in each examination centre had been earmarked for the purpose. Initially, the II PUC English exam was scheduled to be held on 23 March 2020. However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it was postponed by the department.
