Janardhan Poojary Releases his Autobiography ‘Saala Melada Sangrama’
Mangaluru: The autobiography of Janardhan Poojary “Saala Melada Sangrama” was released at Santhoshi Kala Mantapa here on January 26.
Prior to the stage programme for releasing the book, Janardhan Poojary took a round of the temple carrying the book on his head and offering prayers to the Gods and Goddesses inside.
The programme was inaugurated by Janardhan Poojary by lighting the traditional lamp along with his wife Malathi, MLA J R Lobo and other dignitaries on the dais.
Addressing the gathering Janardhan Poojary said, “I thought of writing about my childhood, my political career, struggles during the Loan Mela etc. and bring out my autobiography with the title “Saala Melada Sangrama”. When I asked journalist Laxman Kodase he wholeheartedly agreed to write my autobiography. Whenever I remembered the incidents in my life, I used to call him and dictate the content. I have called him several times even in the middle of the night and he was there to note down the details. Today I have released my autobiography and I want everyone to read it. The cost of the book is Rs 300 but today it will be sold for Rs 50. If I give it free of cost people will throw it into the dustbin, they will not understand the value of the book. I want everyone to read my autobiography by buying the book for the least amount of Rs 50.”
Janardhan Poojary felicitated Journalist Laxman Kodase with Shawl, memento and a two sovereign gold coin. Janardhan Poojary also felicitated Chengappa AD for the Layout and designing the cover of the book. Harikrishna Bantwal, Mamatha Gatti, Urmila Ramesh Kumar and others were also felicitated on the occasion.
When MLC Ganesh Karnik reached the venue, the programme was about to conclude. Janardhan Poojary said, “I don’t like politicians reaching any programmes late. I had informed everyone to reach on time because I had to start the programme sharp at 5:30 pm. Since you have reached late, you should not apologize to me but should apologize to the people”. Capt Ganesh Karnik with humility apologized to the people for coming late and earned a big round of applause for his humbleness.
Poojary overwhelmed by Karnik’s response said, “I want all politicians to be humble and always ready to accept their mistakes. It is our greatness to apologize when we make mistakes, God will bless us and we will succeed in our life.”
District Youth Congress President Mithun Rai, Minister for Food and Civil Services U T Khader, A J Shetty and many others ordered hundreds of copies of the “Saala Melada Sangrama”. Minister U T Khader said, “Janardhan Poojary is a role model for all of us. He is our inspiration and I want the students from my constituency to read his autobiography. I will buy 500 books and distribute it to the students in my constituency.”
Mithun Rai also said that he will distribute the books so that people can read the autobiography of Janardhan Poojary.
Responding to U T Khader and Mithun Rai Janardhan Poojary said, “Giving the book free of cost to anyone does not have any value for the book, it will go to the dustbin. Instead of giving it free of cost, sell it for Rs 50, or for the least amount people can afford, only then people will read it.”
District Minister In-charge Ramanath Rai, MLA J R Lobo, MLA Moideen Bava, MLA Shakuntala Shetty, Chief whip Ivan D’Souza, Mayor Kavitha Sanil, Chancellor of Yenepoya University Abdullah Kunhi, Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat and others were also present.
