Mangalore: Star attraction, Tiger Dance, Tableaux and Mosaru Kudike Mark Sri Krishna Janmashtami

Mangaluru: It was a festive mood in the city as thousands of people witnessed the Mosaru Kudike at Kadri Kambla, Attavar, Babugudde, Urva, Thokkottu and other places, with youngsters forming human pyramids to reach the top of the ‘Chappara’ to break the earthen pots filled with goodies.

At Attavar, there were tableaux and tiger dance. Youngsters formed pyramids and broke earthen pots, while other youth splashed water on the pyramid, to break it and give others a chance to break the pots. Children and the people who had come to witness the Mosaru Kudike were busy collecting goodies.

At Kadri Kambla, along with the earthen pots, artificial rain was created. People enjoyed at one of the ‘Chapparas’ where artificial rain poured. The ‘Chappara’ measured 2 storeys high had over 50 ‘kudikes’ to be broken. The local people who had helped the friends’ circle to organize it, had filled each one of the kudikes with goodies, cold drinks, vegetables, cash prizes and eatables.

Thousands of people watched the Mosaru Kudike, the young and the old capturing the tiger dance and tableaux on their mobile phones.

The best part was the colourful tableaux that each area had organized. At Kadri, some mythological characters took the stage on the moving trucks. Huli vesha, historical figures and many other types of masqueraders took part in the celebrations.

At Kadri grounds, a musical nite was organized by Kadri Cricketers Club. Kannada Actor, Director, Producer, Music Director and Lyricist, V Ravichandran was the chief guest. There was a huge crowd gathered around the ground to see their favourite star. Outside the entrance, people were seen requesting the police to let them in, only to be disappointed at not being allowed. District minister in-charge, Ramanath Rai, MLA J R Lobo, former Mayor Shasidhar Hegde, corporator Ashok R, Cheetah Yagnesh Shetty and others were also present.
