Jawa and Yezdi bikes Rally marks International Jawa Day in city
Udupi: About 30 bikers took out a rally with their precious good old Jawa and Yezdi bikes vrooming on the main roads of the city to mark the 15th International Jawa Day on Saturday, July 22.
The roads came alive with the sounds of Yezdi and Jawa as their owners took out their pride and joy to mark the day.
The rally, which was organised by Udupi Jawa Yezdi Motorcycle Club began in front of Prakash Retails, passed through Manipal Bannanje road and culminated near Manipal Bus stand. While most of the participants were men, a few women also participated as pillion riders with relatives.
The main organiser of the programme Vincent said that this year’s Jawa Day has been organised by about 30 friends who own Jawa and Yezdi bikes. Many people from the city and from the neighbouring cities assemble at the specified place and will be riding the motorcycles Jawa or Yezdi to celebrate the Day. We celebrate this day to show people that our motorcycles are still in use and also to have some fun. These bikes have attained an iconic status as they are no longer available. If available, they are sold for over a lakh Rupees, he added.
