Udupi: Janata Dal (Secular) will contest all the 224 assembly seats in the 2018 elections and not have any alliance with any party said H.D. Kumaraswamy, president of the state unit of JD(S) and former Karnataka Chief Minister.
He was speaking to the media persons at Kaup on Monday, April 17. The party would play a decisive role after the next Assembly polls, saying that the party would form the government. The people of Karnataka are disturbed with the administration of the Congress government. The Nanjangudu and Guldupet by-poll results are different, 20 ministers had campaigned with money power. JD(S) did not file their candidate in the By-polls and it helped the congress. But the results will not be the same in the coming 2018 élections, he added.
Only the JD(S) can stop the Modi wave in the State; People of Karnataka still remember the previous BJP administration and the present Congress administration in the state. Both the national parties have failed to address the problems of the common man, people will surely give the chance to JD(S) in the assembly elections.
He also accused the BJP government at the Centre and Congress government in the state of failing to come to the rescue of farmers who are in distress due to successive drought. The government has not been able to provide adequate fodder for the cattle in rural areas. The situation has worsened in some districts, he added.
District JD(S) president Yogish Shetty, working president Vaudeva Rao, Secretary Jayaram Acharya, Kaup constituency president Sudhakar Shetty, Women wing president Shalini Shetty Kenchanoor, JD(S) leaders Iqbal Ahammed, M B Sadashiva, Taranath Shetty, Jayakumar Prakala, M H Mohammed, Sachin, Mansoor, Dakshath Shetty and others were present.
HDK will be lucky if his party can win 24 out of 224.
It is a contest between Cong I and BJP.
