He urged the students to pass on any information about drugs to the Police Department.

In his presidential message, SP Laxman Nimbargi said, “Supply of drugs cannot be stopped by regulating drugs. The drug mafia has grown to be a huge menace because of the huge demand for drugs by the youth. The drug Mafia has spread like an epidemic in India. Many people think that creating awareness on Drug Abuse is the responsibility of the Police. The public can give information on illegal activities, including consumption of drugs, supply and sale points or any criminal activity to the police department. 65 percent of the youth in the country are in the age group of 17-35 years. The massive potential of the youth should be utilised for the good of the country. It is the responsibility of the public to assist in the fight against drugs that is destroying the future of the younger generation not only in Udupi but across the district, he added.
