Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) is a qualifying exam for the entrance in the various prestigious Indian Institute of Technology and none the less, National Institutes of Technology (NIT’s). Also there are some many private and government funded institutes which recognizes the score of the JEE as the criteria for the admission. JEE is conducted for the entrance in the B.E. /B. tech. courses and the B. Arch. / B. Planning courses across the nation.

Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) consists of two rounds. The first round is known as JEE Mains which is open for all the eligible candidates who fill the application forms in advance. Whereas, the students who get through the cut-off of the first round, get eligible for the second round of JEE Advanced.

JEE is conducted in two modes: online and offline. The offline mode is the traditional model where you would fill up the bubbles in the OMR sheet to mark the correct answer by using pen or pencil as instructed. In addition, you get the physical question papers to solve the questions and find the correct answer.

The online mode commonly referred as the computer-based examination is conducted on the computer. The student has to log in using the ID and password and the question papers appear on the screen, from the soft copy passed over the server. However this mode is applicable only for the BE/ BTech. candidates as the BArch question paper consist of testing the drawing skills and imagination power which is very difficult to answer on the computer screen. The student has to click on the answer that he thinks to be correct and submit.

The online mode is far better than the offline mode in terms of ease and generating results. The students do not have to waste time in tedious job of filling bubbles an ensuring that it is marked properly to be read by OMR scanner. In case you have filled a bubble partially in the offline mode, the OMR scanner is likely to ignore it. In addition, you cannot change your answer once you fill a wrong bubble.

The generation of result in the only mode is super fast. As soon as you submit the answers, the result is generated and is stored internally in the server. The only problem with the online mode is that it is very difficult to arrange for such large number of computers in a single day. Thus, it has to be performed in more than one day which means that students appearing on next day will get a totally different set of questions which may be easy for some while difficult for others as compared to the previous set.

The students have to opt for the desired mode (online or offline) during filling the application form. Once the form is submitted, the mode of examination cannot be changed. The dates for the conduction of Paper 1 and Paper 2 in the offline mode are April 3, 2016. Both the papers will be conducted on the same day. Paper 1 will be held in first shift for which the timings are 9:30 am to 12:30 pm, with a total duration of 3 hours. The Paper 2 starts from 2:00 pm and ends at 5:00 pm, with the same duration of 3 hours. Paper 1 will also be conducted in the online mode on the two dates: April 9, 2016 and April 10, 2016 with a student appearing in either one of the dates according to allotment in admit card. Paper 2 will be conducted in the offline mode only.

Paper 1 will consist of three sections of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics with equal distribution of marks for each section. Paper 1 is for the students aspiring for the admission in BE/ B. Tech. Courses. All the questions in each of the three sections will be objective type.

Paper 2 is conducted for the admission in the B. Arch. / B. Planning. Courses and it consists of three sections: Mathematics, Aptitude Test and Drawing Test. The questions in the first two sections will be objective type whereas the third section will be to test drawing skills. This is the reason why Paper 2 cannot be conducted in the online mode.
