Journalists should carry Positive News – Fr Valerian Mendonca
Udupi: Journalists should carry positive news as there is a need to develop positive thinking among the readers, said Fr Valerian Mendonca Chancellor of Udupi Diocese and also parish priest of St Peter’s Church Barkur.
He was speaking during the Annual sports prize distribution of Udupi district working journalists association at Hotel Ocean Pearl on Saturday, February 11.
The media has played a vital role in the growth of human civilization, thus it has a major responsibility to play in society. He felt that the media should carry such news items that can lead people towards positive thinking besides giving general information about the happenings around the world. He stressed upon the need to carry more positive news.
Anup D’Costa Ekalavya Award winner, Dr Krishna Prasad of Prasad Netralaya, Biju Varghese Manager of Ocean Perl, Rohini district information officer were present as guests of honour.
Prizes were distributed to winners of the various events held during the Annual district journalists sports meet.
Jayakar Suvarna president of Udupi district working journalists association presided over the function. Secretary Ganesh Prasad Pandelu welcomed the gathering. Sports Secretary Nazir Poly read out the winners list and Rajesh Shetty Treasurer delivered the vote of thanks. Journalist Kiran Dondole entertained the audience with funny games.
