Journalists Get Threat Calls from Gulf Country after PFI Protest Incident

Mangaluru: Three of the journalists have received threat calls from gulf country on April 4, evening after an emoticon was posted by one of the journalists on the WhatsApp group.

On April 4, the PFI and members of Muslim Organisations had gheraoed the police commissioner’s office. The police officers requested the protesters to vacate the road but they refused and demanded the release of Quraishi, who has been admitted to the ICU due to kidney failure. The police had to resort to lathi charge to vacate the protesters from the road.

The news of the lathi charge spread like wildfire and there were discussions on the Social media. In one of the WhatsApp group, a journalist had posted that the police league match had begun. Hurt by the comment, a person called from a gulf country and threatened the journalists not to post emoticons since the incident had hurt him a lot.

Three journalists, one after another received threat calls from various numbers. The journalists on April 5 revealed about receiving the threat calls from gulf countries. So far, no case has been registered in this connection.
