Justice N Santhosh Hegde speaks on ‘Upholding Values & Fight against Corruption’ at AIMIT
Mangaluru: Justice N. Santhosh Hegde, the former Karanata Lokayuktha was at AIMIT, St Aloysius College (Autonomous) on 26TH November, 2019 for the celebration of CONSTITUTION DAY. The theme of his address was on “Upholding moral values and fight against corruption”. The program began with a brief introduction and welcome to Justice Hegde by Fr Denzil Lobo SJ, Director, AIMIT.
Hegde said he has visited over 1200 educational institutions since his retirement and has interacted with youth in order to make them understand the importance of being content in one’s life and Humanism i.e. is being humane in your dealing with the society. When the society in general ignores these two values they tend to become greedy and corrupt which in turn leads to the failure of a society. Thus, to break the cycle of corruption one needs to awaken the youth towards the idea of a corruption-free society.
Stating the current facts based on various parliamentary studies, Hegde stated that out of every ten rupees spent for the people by the Government only fifteen paisa reaches the end destination. The amount of zero’s in the modern day scams have only been increasing while the 3 core pillars of modern society i.e. the parliament, the executives and the Judiciary has been failing the people, to fix it the next generation, the youth should understand the importance and happiness one can have from wealth that it can earn legitimately.
The social value of responsibility for one’s action is the need of the hour and when each individual take a responsible action can the society advance towards serving the betterment of humanity. The program concluded with Q&A session. Nearly 250 attended the session.
