Justice will be done with those found Innocent in Recent Violence – Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai
Mangaluru: “We have received many complaints that innocent people have been arrested by the police in connection with the recent violence in Mangaluru. If the arrested are found innocent they will get justice. I have directed the concerned authorities to take stern action against the perpetrators”, said the home minister during a press meet held at the DC office here on December 31.
Addressing the mediapersons Bommai said, “The Muslim Central Committee has asked permission to hold a protest and the BJP has also asked permission for a Jana Jagrati meet. I have directed the District Administration and the Police Commissioner to review their applications and take necessary measures in both the cases. To maintain the law and order situation, I have requested the organizers to postpone their programmes for 8 to 10 days. The leaders have assured me to get back to me once they hold discussions with other leaders.”
HM Basavaraj Bommai also said, “After December 19, no untoward incidents have taken place. Everyone has given priority to peace in society. In the police firing, two persons had lost their lives and the case is being investigated. Based on the investigation report we will take necessary action. I have advised the police officers to build a good relationship between the police department and all the communities.”
District Minister In-charge Kota Srinivas Poojary, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLA Sanjeev Matandoor and former minister U T Khader were also present.
