K K Hebbar Gallery to Open in Manipal on June 24
Manipal: Kattingeri Krishna Hebbar (1911-1996) was an art celebrity to brought fame to a small village in Udupi district, earlier in undivided Dakshina Kannada.
Based in Mumbai, Hebbar gave new dimensions to art paintings. He was adept in sketch art also.
To perpetuate his memory, the K K Hebbar Gallery and Art Centre (HGAC) is set to open at the Manipal Centre for Philosophy and Humanities, Manipal on June 24.
The inauguration ceremony will be followed by discussions and screenings. The gallery houses 25 portraits of K K Hebbar donated to the Manipal University by the K K Hebbar Foundation.
Curator Srajana Kaikini has informed that the HGAC seeks to extend this art space as a venue for creative expression by all creative cultural and reflective practitioners in and around the region and beyond.
