According to sources, a 55-year-old man named Venkatesh from Mysuru had climbed a coconut tree in a park, to stay away from the torture of his wife. Being a coconut plucker, he decided that by climbing the tree and be there on top will keep him safe from his wife and others. When nobody could convince Venkatesh who was on the tree for nearly eight hours, was finally convinced by his elder sister in making him alight.

It is learnt that Venkatesh, yelling at top of his voice, and blaming his wife for repeatedly torturing him for property, set a condition for Saraswatipuram (Mysuru) police inspector K C Poovaiah to bring his favourite actor-turned-minister M H Ambareesh to the venue for him to alight- but this didn’t work out. Instead his elder sister was able to convince Venkatesh in coming down from the tree. But anyways, Venkatesh was booked under Section 92 of the Karnataka Police Act for creating public nuisance, before being let off with a warning not to repeat it again.

It is also learnt that when Venkatesh, was atop the coconut tree for nearly 8 hours, he seemed to be at comfort, plucking tender coconut at intervals, chopping them with a machete and enjoying drinking the coconut water. Even though Venkatesh says that he had transferred his properties in the name of his wife, but his wife denies his allegations. According to his wife, once before on 18 March 1993 Venkatesh had climbed a tree demanding that Ambareesh arrive to the spot to bring him down. Ambareesh obliging his fan, Venkatesh had come to the spot, and after convincing Venkatesh to alight, he also gave him Rs 500 as a gift.

For every Venkatesha, there are millions of men who try to ‘hide’ from their spouses to enjoy a moment of peace. Why do you think men work long hours at office or go out for fishing/hunting trips with their buddies?? LOL LOL
