Kadri Police Arrest Five for Extortion and Attempt to Murder

Mangaluru: The Kadri Police arrested five youth in connection with the kidnap, extortion and murder attempt of a youth on April 24.

The arrested have been identified as Dilraj Kumar alias Dhiru (23) from Alape Padil, Pranesh Poojary (21) from Vamanjoor, Neekshith Poojary (21) from Kannur, Preetham Poojary (22) from Jayanagar Bajal and Nithin Poojary (20) from Arkula.

On April 15, at around 4.30 pm, Glenson from Jalligudda was kidnapped by Dheeraj, Pranesh, Neekshith, Preetham and Nitin. When Glenson was riding his two-wheeler one of the accused forcibly sat on his bike. The accused then threatened and took Glenson to the Adyar Railway track where they snatched his mobile worth Rs 15000. The accused also demanded Rs 1 lakh and threatened him with life if he failed to pay. Later the accused took Glenson to Kelrai, Neermarga.

All the accused having criminal background were arrested by the Kadri Police. The Kadri Police seized Rs 50000, mobile phone, a Pulsar bike and two other bikes which were used for the crime from their possession.

Under the direction of Police commissioner Vipul Kumar and able guidance of DCP Law and order Hanumantharaya and DCP Crime and Traffic Uma Prashanth the operation was carried out by the Kadri Police inspector Maruti Nayak, PSI Crime Neethu R Gudde, Venkatesh, Jayanand, Umesh, Girish Jogi, Ajith Mathew, Raghavendra, Birendra, Hanumanth and Manoj.
