Kambala bill will soon be sent for Presidential Nod – Sadananda Gowda

Udupi: The Kambala bill will soon be sent for the presidential nod said Minister for Law D V Sadananda Gowda. He was speaking to media persons during his visit to Udupi here on April 17.

The Central Government has received the bill on Kambala drafted by the Government of Karnataka. The bill has been processed by the Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Culture and Ministry of Law. The Home Ministry has sent the bill to all the three ministries before sending it to the President of India.

The bill was sent to the three ministries through the Ministry of Home Affairs and the ministry has said that there was no specific mention for the framing of rules in the bill drafted by the Government of Karnataka, while in the case of Jallikattu it was clearly mentioned that the rules will be formulated by the State Government of Tamilnadu. The central government opined that the rules should be framed similarly to the rules framed by Tamil Nadu.

The Minister for Home Affairs, Rajanath Singh was consulted, and he has called on the law secretary of the Government of Karnataka and Union Government and a meeting was conveyed between the secretaries and joint secretary of Home Affairs. Likewise, the rules framing issue has been set right and the bill will be sent to the President for his consent. The President will give his consent as he has been very instrumental in addressing the issue highlighted by the people.

While asked his opinion on Yettinahole, since the state leaders have been supporting the project while the local politicians are opposing it, he said that he has left the issue in the public domain, the water resources department should address the core concerns of the project.

He also said that the rain water of 100 days which flows in excess to the sea will be pumped, the local politicians should be consulted. There is no problem for the environment and fish breeding will not be affected. The project was launched after a research followed with a detailed study.

When asked about the inclusion of Tulu language in the 8th schedule, he said that efforts are made, while there is also growing pressure from other languages.

While asked on BJP’s defeat in the by-elections, Gowda said that when BJP was in power by-elections were held, out of 17 seats 15 seats were won by BJP, there needs no more attribution as people have voted for the party leading state’s administration. BJP has increased its vote share which is also a success, he added.
