Kambala lover Karinje Veenu Vishwanath Shetty passes away

Udupi: Well-known Kambala lover Karinje Veenu Vishwanath Shetty passed away after a massive heart attack in Bantwal on December 22.

According to sources Veenu Vishwanath Shetty had participated in the Veera-Vikrama Jodukere Kambala at Hokkadi near Bantwal and his Buffaloes had won the first place. While the prize was announced Vishwanath Shetty collapsed suffering a massive heart attack. He was rushed to the hospital but breathed his last on the way.

Veenu Vishwanath Shetty was a native of Moodabidri-Karinje having hotels in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and India. He had bought land in Padubidri just to nurture his love for Kambala. In 1999, he began taking care of the racing buffaloes which were winning medals every year since then. He has even built a swimming pool especially to train his buffaloes for the Kambala.

Vishwanath Shetty is survived by his wife, daughter and a large number of Kambala fans.
