Karavali Cricket Academy Launches 1st of its Kind ‘Bowling Machine’ in City

Mangaluru: Karavali Cricket Academy (KCA) is a unit of Karavali Cricket Clinic which was established in 1996 and is affiliated to Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA). Ever since its inception, it has been working for the benefit of cricket players and cricket enthusiasts towards developing first class cricketers. During the last two decades, it has conducted many successful cricket tournaments. Eminent players and coaches like Javagal Srinath, Syed Kirmani, Salim Durrani, L Sivaramakrishnan, EAS Prasanna, and Dronacharya Awardee Ramakanth Achrekar were technical advisers of the Clinic and coached the youth and made them very successful cricketers.

KCA powered by Experience and Driven by Values last month had launched the “Project Quality Cricketers”- a programme of bringing modern technology, quality coaching facilities and innovative training methodology during the Cricket Coaching Camp which commenced from April 5, 2017 and ended few days ago at the University College ground, Mangaluru. The camp was for a duration of 40-days. The Academy coaching style was built upon International Cricket Council (ICC) coaching manual. Sampath Perera, a reputed Sri Lankan coach was the head of the coaching faculty, while Srikanth K-a level one coach of ACC, Jayaprakash Shetty, who played for UAE National Cricket and also KPL, and Santhosh Misquith, a level one coach of ICC were the other coaches during the Camp.

On 9 May 2017, the First of its Kind Cricket Bowling Machine was launched by Karavali Cricket Academy during a launching ceremony held at Dr Shivarama Karanth Bhavan, located inside University College, Mangaluru. Dr G Shankar- President of G Shankar Family Trust inaugurated the ‘Bowling Machine’ along with other dignitaries on the dais namely Dr Udayakumar Irvathur-Principal, University College, Mangaluru, and Board members of the KCA.

In his inaugural address, complimenting the KCA for their unique initiative in implementing the cricket coaching camp, Dr G Shankar said, ” We all need to be grateful for KCA for their dedication towards the youngsters in training them in cricket. Now it’s the responsibility of the parents to support KCA by encouraging their children to show interest in cricket and learn from KCA.. At KCA I am sure your children will learn the best techniques in the cricket field, and will reach greater heights by becoming star players locally, at state level and National level. Whatever help KCA needs from my side I am ready to oblige. I wish the academy all success in their future projects”.

Dr Udayakumar Irvathur also spoke and wished KCA all success in their future endeavours. Many parents of the children who participated in the 40-day Cricket Coaching Camp expressed their thoughts and gave high praises to Santhosh Misquith and his colleagues for giving the best training in cricket, which is not found at other coaching camps. One parent even said that her son quit at a different cricket coaching camp, just to join the KCA cricket coaching camp, and he is happy since he did the right choice.

The KCA looks forward to receiving an enthusiastic response from the public, with kind-hearted support and co-operation in this endeavour to make it a success in every way.
