Karkala: The 6th Beladingala Sahitya Sammelana was held at MahammayiTemple premises, Hanchikatte Ajekar here on April 4.
The programme began with an invocation. The programme was inaugurated by well-known poet Ambathanaya Mudradi by lighting diyas along with other dignitaries on the dais.
Addressing the gathering, Ambathanaya Mudradi said that the programme has been organised in the moonlight. The organizer Shekar Ajekar has given utmost importance to the programme. Shekar is an ardent lover of Kannada literature, from the past 6 years, he has been organizing this programme and recognizing achievers in various fields.
He further said that now a days people are hesitant to speak Kannada. “We should work hard to retain Kannada. Those who forget Kannada are forgetting their own mother.” He stressed that parents should teach their children Kannada and speak it at home. He wished the organizer all success.
Addressing the gathering, president of Kannada Sahitya Parishat Karkala, B C Rao said that in this modern world Kannada is losing its importance. “To retain Kannada language, we need to use it whenever and wherever possible. Beladingala Sahitya Sammelana has brought many achievers together. Let this be a successful event.
