Karmika Vedike holds free health check-up camp in Malpe

Udupi: The district unit of Karnataka Karmika Vedike (KKV) in association with Adarsha Hospital organised a free health check-up camp and free medicines distribution for the needy, at Malpe beach here, on Sunday, July 24.

The programme began with an invocation. Chandrika Shetty, president of women’s wing welcomed the gathering and delivered the introductory remarks. Dr G S Chandrashekar of Adarsha Hospital Udupi inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp.

Addressing the gathering, Dr G S Chandrashekar said that one should always take precautions rather than discovering diseases during a visit to the doctor. “People of the rural areas and the poor should utilise the benefits of free health check-up camps. Many of the labour class people have financial problems and suffer from ill health. The health check-up camp will be of great help to such people,” he added.

Meenakshi Madhava Bannaje, president of Udupi City Municipality, inaugurated the newly opened Malpe unit on the occasion. Yashpal Suvarna, president of DK Udupi Fish seller’s Federation, distributed free health insurance cards on the occasion.

A team of doctors from Adarsha Hospital conducted various tests including diabetes, high blood pressure and chronic joint pain among others during the camp. The camp was held from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. More than 150 people made use of the camp.

District president of KKV Ravi Shetty presided over the function. H B Nagesh (founder president, Karnataka Karmika Vedike), Prakyath Shetty Thenkanidiyoor (Entrepreneur), Anand Rao (Notary), Shekar G Kotian (Entrepreneur, Malpe), Mohan Raj (President, Malpe Beach Unit), Suresh Sherigar (district vice-president), Raghavendra Kundar (convener, Brahmavar) and Ravi Shashtri Bannaje (district General Secretary) were present.
