‘Karnataka, a Peaceful State, Don’t Kill it for Political Gains’-HDK
Mangaluru: Addressing the media persons during a press meet held at Circuit House, Former chief minister and state JD(S) chief H D Kumaraswamy on Saturday November 12 said, “The Central Government and State Government are indulged in playing vote bank politics instead of solving the problems faced by the people. Recently the Tipu Jayanti was celebrated in spite of protest by opposition parties, Fortunately no untoward incident took place unlike last year. But was it really necessary to celebrate Tipu Jayanthi. It has created lots of confusion, and in between there has been controversy over minister Tanveer sait watching porn during Tip Jayanti celebration in Bellary. While the opposition is urging for Sait’s resignation, the CM is reluctant in taking any action.”
He further said “It is sad to note that we are seeing quite a few murders these days in the State. Just wondering if our State Home Minister is around and awake. The law and order situation is out of control. It is so funny to note that, every time a murder takes place, the blame is put on political parties, race, religion or color. This should not take place-the government should act quickly to find who was behind the murder, instead of dragging the case, blaming it on opposition parties etc. Karnataka which was once a peaceful state has landed into lots of violence, murders, looting etc- please don’t spoil the peace of the state for personal or political gains. I can say that both the Central government and state government are busy in attracting votes instead of solving the problems of the people,”.
“The state government has completely ignored the farmers- in spite of many farmers committing suicides recently, still the government is less bothered about them. From the past three years, the farmers in rural areas have been experiencing difficulties due to natural calamities. It is learnt that the state government has submitted a report to the central government stating that it had incurred a loss of Rs 16,000 crore due to scarcity of rain. And just for formalities, CM Siddaramaiah has been touring the drought affected areas, but without any positive results. It is all for the the sake of political gains and vote bank. As per the scene on TV, when a group of farmers went to meet the CM, they were pushed away. But why? Not only that, in DK the areca and rubber growers are facing quite a few problems, like low selling price of arecanut etc, but still neither the central govt. nor the State govt. has taken any initiative to solve this crisis. This speaks about the no concern and care towards the farmers by both the central and state ruling parties”
Speaking on the Tanveer Sait issue, HDK said, “I am not saying that the issue is true or not. But as a minister Sait should have behaved in a good manner during the celebrations. In the past, minister who had watched porn during sessions had been terminated- so why not Tanveer. How can the law or rule change in the case of Sait. The only solution for this incident is that Tanveer should resign. He should have known better that representatives should be careful in what they are up to. Filing defamation case against media for reporting such instances is not right. I urge the government that by filing cases and get reporters arrested, the government has to pay for it. In conclusion, all I have to say is that both the Central and State government should worry and take care of its citizens first rather than solve other non-important issues. Even Dakshina Kannada is facing problems due to vote bank politics of both these two ruling parties.”
