Karnataka Assembly Battle ends Peacefully in Udupi District Registering 77.85 pc Polling

Udupi: The high-stakes battle for the Karnataka Assembly ended on Saturday evening recording 77.85 percentage of polling in the district.

Polling was peaceful without any untoward incidents reported anywhere. Kundapur assembly segment reported 79.05 percent polling while Udupi recorded 77.38 percent, Kaup reported 76.79 percent and Karkala recorded 77.85 percentage of polling respectively.

The overall percentage of polling in Naxal affected areas was high when compared to other areas in the constituency.

Krishna Naik, who is 80 years old, with blurred vision and unable to walk, came to the polling station at the BM School Parkala to cast his ballot. He said that he was very eager to cast his vote, which he has been doing throughout his life and would continue doing so. Krishna Naik was accompanied by his neighbour.

Voting was peaceful by and large, except for a few incidents of some non-functional EVMs, missing voter names and procedural delays.

The vote count will take place on May 15 at the TMA Pai English Medium School Kunjibettu.

High voting generally favors BJP. Cong I must be we pants after reading the figures.
