Karnataka polls: Six-time Cong MLA Guttedar to quit party, join BJP

Bengaluru: In a big blow to the ruling Congress, senior party legislator Malikkaiah Guttedar on Thursday decided to quit the party and join the BJP.

A six-time MLA from Afzalpur constituency in Kalaburagi district, Guttedar is upset with the party for neglecting him. He hit out at Congress leader in Lok Sabha Mallikharjuna Kharge and his son Priyank Kharge, accusing them of conspiring to finish his political career.

Guttedar, who met BJP State president B S Yeddyurappa at his residence at Dollars’ Colony in Bengaluru, said he will soon resign as MLA and formally join the BJP.
