Karnataka is Top Job creating state – Krishna Byre Gowda during ‘Nanna Karnataka’ interaction

Udupi: Under the leadership of National Student Union of India (NSUI) Udupi district organised an interaction session ‘Nanna Karnataka’ at the Town Hall on March 14 to prepare the Youth Manifesto for the 2018 Assembly elections.

The state agriculture minister Krishna Byre Gowda inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp. In his message, Krishna Byre Gowda said that India has the world’s largest youth population. By 2020 India is set to become the world’s youngest country with 64 percent of its population in the working age group of 28. Youths are the asset of every nation and each step they take should be filled with goodness.

We are showcasing youth leadership and telling them that we want to listen to your aspirations and work with you to achieve them. This is the first time the Congress is directly reaching out to the youth across class, gender and caste. The “Nanna Karnataka” programme plans to provide a governance strategy for Karnataka over the next five years by taking into account the aspirations of the Youths and students.

The student’s opinion, their suggestions on various sectors including education, job creation will be collected during interactions in the state. We intended to capture the expectations of every student in the state’s development blueprint. The Inputs from the students will be used when the party prepares its manifesto for the next assembly polls.

The minister also highlighted the achievements of his government during the last five years. According to the national study report Karnataka has been ranked as the top job-creating state in the country. Karnataka rose to the number one position among all states across India in the investment intention in 2016 and 2017 from the 11th position in 2013. During the last four years and six months, the state has attracted highest investment. Karnataka’s GDP growth (8.5 percent) is higher than the country’s GDP growth (6.8 percent), he added.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah led Congress government has fulfilled the pre-poll promises. Of the 165 promises that figured in the Congress manifesto for the 2013 Assembly Elections, the State government has fulfilled 155 promises and has administered a “scam-free governance” in the last five years. For the first time views and suggestions of students were being incorporated while preparing the election manifesto, he added.

Later Krishna Byre Gowda had an interaction with the student fraternity. Many students demanded the government to provide free education and laptops to all the students. Some of the students demanded to establish more industries in the coastal belt which will help for job creation. The minister replying said that their demand of establishing major industries in coastal belt is achievable but sufficient land in the coastal districts of Udupi and Mangaluru is not available. Students also demanded to provide infrastructure facilities in Slum areas, Government Hostels and Colleges.

Udupi district minister in-charge Pramod Madhwaraj, KPCC vice-president Manjunath Bhandary, State minority development corporation president M A Gafoor, district Congress president Janardhan Tonse, Congress leader Harish Kini, Jayashree Krishnaraj and others were present.

The interaction programme was organised well. Around 700 students from across the district participated in the interaction programme and shared their views and opinions. The entire programme was held successfully with preparations by Christen D’Almeida President NSUI Udupi district along with Vignesh Kini general secretary Youth Congress Udupi district, Ashith Pereira district incharge NSUI, Nagesh Kariyapappa, Sridhar Jadhav, Srijith Gowda, Manju, Guruprasad, Mohammed Harries, Neeraj Patil, Sanjay Acharya and Harshith Kuthyar.
