Karwar: Officers of the Excise Enforcement and Lottery Prohibition Wing of Karwar seized Goa liquor bottles that were illegally stocked under the Maigini Bridge here, on February 26.
Acting on a tip off, the officers searched the Maigini river area in Gopashitta Forest of Goa state border and seized liquor bottles worth Rs 1.73 lakh kept in cartoons. When the department raided the place, two persons named Pramod (a resident of Hotegali) and Pankaj (from Hankona) managed to escape from the spot.
Under the guidance of Western Range Excise DySP Madan Gaonkar, SI Amanulla A, Roshan, Sudhir, Stany, Gopal, Gopal, Vijay, Manjunath, Arun and Sabeena participated in the operation.
