Kaup Block Congress Protests against Hike in Fuel Price
Udupi: The Kaup Block Congress staged a protest against the hike in fuel price at Kaup on here on July 9.
Congress party workers took out a protest rally from Rajeev Bhavan Kaup to the Tahsildar Office and submitted a memorandum to President Ram Nath Kovind, demanding immediate withdrawal of the increased prices for fuel.
Addressing the gathering, former minister, Vinay Kumar Sorake said, “Every section of society has been hit hard by the COVID pandemic. The Centre is raising the prices of essential commodities instead of providing relief to the people. The prices of oil in the international market have dropped drastically, but the Modi government and oil companies are profiting”.
Vinay Kumar Sorake further said, “The poor, workers, shopkeepers, middle-class families, farmers, small and medium business people and a large number of the unemployed are struggling for their livelihood in times of economic recession, but the government is not bothered”.
Udupi District Congress president Ashok Kumar Kodavoor, KPCC secretary M A Gafoor, District Youth Congress president Vishwas Ameen, Congress leaders Haish Kini, Sarasu D Bangera and others were present.
