Kaup Police arrest two Chain Snatchers
Udupi: The Kaup Police arrested two persons on October 13 for their involvement in the aged woman’s chain-snatching case at Kaup and recovered the gold chain, a Motor Bike, two mobile phones and cash all worth Rs 93000 from them.
The arrested have been identified as Krishna Narashima Shastri (27) and Vijaya Kumar (21) residents of Palligudde, Kaup. Both were natives of Raichur and Bagalkote districts.
On October 8 when Shantha Acharya a resident of Innanje, Kaup had gone to collect grass for the cattle, the accused arrived on a motorbike and snatched her chain.
The police recovered the Gold Chain worth Rs 50000, a Motor Bike worth Rs 30000, two mobile phones worth Rs 3000 and Cash Rs 10000 from the accused.
Under the direction of SP Nisha James, Kumarchandra Additional SP and the support of Krishankath IPS ASP Karkala Subdivision, the team lead by Mahesh Prasad CPI Kaup, Rajshekar B Saganoor PSI Kaup, Probationary PSI Udaya Ravi, Sadashiv Gouroji, Mahadev Bosle, Staff Praveen Kumar, Rajesh, Sandesh, Sukumar, Jagadeesh, Ravikumar, Mahabala, Sudhakar Bijoor, Sandeep Shetty Raghavendra Jogi, Anand and others took part in the arrest operation.
