The people of Kaup would have benefitted from the taluk centre. Students henceforth cannot claim rural reservation for education and employment with the formation of TMC. The stamp fee for registration of land will be hiked, building owners will have to pay hiked taxes for the renewal of the license fee. 1.75 cents of land will be allotted to people in the TMC limits which is 2.75 cents in rural areas.
The government of Karnataka has initiated sand mining code separately for sweet and salt water instead of uniform sand mining code, this has created problems in sand mining.
The construction work of commercial complexes has stalled, people who have availed loan facility for the construction of houses are facing problems. Contractors are not paid their dues, daily wagers are suffering without any work. People’s representatives are silent instead of fighting for a uniform sand mining code.
A meeting was convened in the office of the Law minister to discuss on the sand mining code, Law minister T B Jayachandra, Urban Development Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake, Principal secretaries, and Jayaprakash Hegde had participated in the meeting to enforce the Sand Mining code of Maharashtra in Karnataka with amendments, but the meeting was limited to only discussions and no action was taken.
