KBSS Demands Karavali Ulisi during Karavali Utsav
Mangaluru: The Krishi Bhoomi Samrakshana Samiti staged a protest during the Karavali Utsav inauguration at the Utsav Grounds here on December 21.
The protesters entered the stage displaying Karavali Ulisi banner instead of Karavali Utsav, they shouted slogans against the Utsav and demanded to retain the Coast.
The district administration is destroying the coast, instead of celebrating the Utsav.
Permude Zone Vice president William D’Souza said, “Organizing Karavali Utsav is a good move to promote the culture but the district has limited the Utsav to the city. If the Utsav will be celebrated in the entire district it will promote the culture of the district. We condemn this celebration, next year if our land taken by MRPL is returned we can celebrate the Utsav together.”
Social activist Vidya Dinkar said, “We came to know that MRPL is the main sponsor for this Karavali Utsav. Today the District Minister In-charge has assured to answer us whether the minister is eating food made by farmers or nuts and bolts made by MRPL. We will come back again till we get a proper answer from the minister.”
Later the police sent the protestors out from the Utsav grounds.
