KCA Presents Hilarious Stage Play ‘Limbe Ani Mirsang’
Mumbai: The Konkani Cultural Association of Navi Mumbai hosted the hilarious comedy Konkani stage play written and directed by John R Mascarenhas, a well-known personality in Konkani literary world, at Vishnudas Bhave Auditorium, Vashi recently. The enthralling performance by the members of the KonkanTaram from Jerimeri, mesmerized the audience for two and half hours. Though it was a working day for many and though many of the families are yet to return from their summer vacation, the auditorium was almost packed to its capacity. The crowd was so responsive that every scene was applauded by the audience and one could witness the resounding peals of laughter from the audience.
This was the second show of the play ‘Limbe Ani Mirsang’, the 1st being in Jerimeri on 8th Jan 2017. John R Mascarenhas was at the peak of his performance with regard to the direction of the play and his enacting three roles in the drama showed that he is very much versatile in any character that he played, particularly his acting as the ‘blind man’ was superb. Though the acting of other members of the group was commendable and every one made justice to the role each one played, the performance Gracy Tauro as the lead lady character ‘Sherpin’ was standing out. The couple dance performance by Joyson and Sheryl was outstanding and the performance of baby Melita mesmerized the audience, though the same was just one scene.
Overall, the play was excellent and value for money. The strong message that came out of the play is that Superstition is the cause of peril of many families and we should not be superstitious, in any event, that we come across in our lives. Organizing committee members like Richard D’Souza, Wilma Pereira, Lancy Pinto, Felix Fernandes, Joseph Patrao etc arranged a felicitation programme during the show and Koncana Association members honoured and felicitated Fr Moses from Nerul, Fr Louis from Kharghar and John Mascarenhas during the show. Also, it was informed to the audience that in line with the main objective of the Association, Koncana will continue to organize many cultural shows in Konkani in the days to come, thus supporting and honouring the efforts put by many personalities in Konkani literary world.
Established in Sept 2016, Koncana has already hosted many konkani programmes like Wilson Olivera Nite, Mhataro Chorbela, Nashibacho Khell Movie and three Goan Tiatrs (plays). After this successful show of ‘Limbe ani Mirsang’ the association has planned further programmes to organize in near future; programmes to follow are ‘EkAslyar Ek Na’ and ‘Sophia’ ( two Konkani movies). Koncana also has the plans to celebrate their 1st Anniversary celebrations in October 2017 in a grand manner in which the cultural programmes will be put by members and their families, thus providing the opportunity to the members and the children to showcase their talents.
We wish John R Mascarenhas and his ’LimbeaniMirsang Play team’ best of luck in their future endeavors and wish their further shows of “LimbeAniMirsang’ may go on and reach out to the large audience in days to come through many more shows.
