KCA UK Summer Picnic -2016
Manchester: On July 30, 2016, KCA UK organised its annual picnic to Graves Park. This 87 hectares massive park is located 3 miles south of Sheffield city.
13 Families of KCA UK living in and around of Manchester and Warrington gathered together at Fallowfield Manchester on the day of the picnic. The picnic began with the journey starting at 08.30 AM with the prayer. The families reached the picnic spot area at around 10.15 AM, a second group consisting 9 more families from Sunderland, Birmingham and Sheffield joined the group at the picnic spot.
Breakfast, prepared by Loyala Moraes Sheffield was served and the weather started favouring the picnic with the sunshine, which kept the spirit and the enthusiasm of the picnic ongoing. At this point, the whole of KCA UK had a happy family gathering and placed the marquee in the camping area. This gave a common point to meet.
The Picnic activities started with the ‘tug of war’ for both adult and kids, which brought excitement and entertainment to the families. This was followed by kids games and entretainment. Kids thoroughly enjoyed these games and the parents were happy watching their kids.
A delicious lunch was served at around 1.30 P.M. Thanks to Martin Saldanha for effectively organising the Food, and special thanks to Janet Rodrigues from Nottingham for preparing Mangalorean style pork.
The afternoon session was dominated by throw-ball for ladies and well known Mangalorean rural games Dog and the Bone and Lagori.
Ronald Lobo and Santhosh Pinto brilliantly conducted the games.
In the closing hours of the day, the winning teams were honoured with prizes. The charming day further continued with the return journey at 5.00pm where everyone continued their singing in the bus, later cracking jokes and conversations.
KCA UK had this picnic well planned, with the help Benson Moraes from Sheffield, a visit was made by KCA UK Members prior to the scheduled picnic, to help in the arrangements of the picnic. This proposed study and planning done has created a lot of interest for the group to visit this place.
KCA UK remains grateful for everyone who worked hard on the picnic day, it is, of course, and will be remembered as another fantastic ‘Family Day’ for everyone at KCA UK.
