KCO ‘Fiesta 2017’ Rocks Konkani community in UAE

Abu Dhabi: KCO successfully pulled off a supercharged and exciting Fiesta 2017 which ran houseful at the prestigious Abu Dhabi Country Club on May 5. It was an evening of nonstop family entertainment.

The hugely popular Goan band Rhythm n Blues and Mangalorean singers Jacqueline and Elton emerged on stage with a mesmerizing array of songs and music. The music, the well-organized arrangements and the beautiful ambiance of the ballroom instantly put the audience in an enjoyable and relaxing mood.

KCO, on its 22nd anniversary, under the capable leadership of Dolphy Vas once again proved that they are a group of talented and skilled organizers that can roll out this amazingly successful event year after year.

The evening unfolded by the invocation led by Fr Rodson Goes, OFM, Cap, the Assistant Parish Priest of St.Joseph’s Cathedral, Abu Dhabi.He wished the event all success. This was followed by the lighting of the lamp and the welcome song sung by the 27 members strong KCO team.

Gerald D’Mello, the entertainment secretary of KCO and the main force behind the execution of the event welcomed the audience and handed over the proceedings to the master of ceremonies Leslie Rego who intensified the mood of the evening with his lively and upbeat announcements, his sense of humor and interaction with the audience.

Dolphy Vas, Hon. President of KCO extended a warm welcome to the gathering and expressed his gratitude to the sponsors for their unstinting support and the community for their presence.

Speaking on the occasion he said, KCO was formed to provide a platform to bring about an awareness especially in our young children, about our culture, roots and heritage and to reach out to the less fortunate and marginalized in the areas of education, health and social needs including the assistance to NGOs back home taking care destitute, AIDS patients and autistic children.

The evening had a pulsating start with the band playing to the melodious songs of Jacqueline.She rendered popular numbers meo amor, raat aichi, pyar ki yeh kahani, jane jaa and Elton belted out hav mog kortan, minchagi neenu baralu.

The duet singing of Jacqueline and Elton was in perfect harmony.Together they churned out beautiful numbers like tum hi ho, and yeh raat bheegi bheegi.

Rhythm and Blues accompanied the singers. The band members Filipe Fortes – Bass Guitar, Nezba Fortes – Singer, Lulu Fortes – Singer, Percussion, Paul Po – Lead guitar, Revlon Coutinho – Keyboard, drums, Omkr – Vocals, keyboard, Ignatius Rodrigues – Keyboard and Savio Fernandes – Drums, spun magic with their sensational music. There was a continuous flow of music throughout. They began withKonthar korun, fotkiro mog, aikat muzo talo, sorga razanth and tuzo mog attracting the audience to the floor.

The energetic Bollywood dancers ‘Nepali Boys’ a dance troupe from Dubai spiced up the show with their upbeat dances that left the audience spellbound.

Our very own actors Rupert Vas and Reena Pinto along with Leslie Rego enacted some rib-tickling Konkani comedy.

Elton rocked the crowd with his energetic baila numbers. The dance session for couples in the age group 50 to 60 was well participated. They swayed to the popular numbers Roopa and mogan ason borem. The novelty dance session aroused a lot of interest in the audience with men wearing silver hats and ladies adorned in a wreath of flowers danced away. People got to listen and dance to great numbers like Claudia, sorg tujeaj dolyani, jab kohi bath, lisboa red rose, fotkiro mog, among many other popular numbers. Fueled by an amazing band of musicians Lulu and Nezba had the crowd on their feet for some action dancing. Everyone, the young and old were moving to the infectious medley of songs by the band.

There were a lot of prizes to give away and everyone enjoyed a sumptuous dinner.

The show was taken up a notch in many aspects, including carefully selected choice of songs and music, comedy, various dance sessions and amazing visual effects. Each artist with their own unique talent enthralled the audience. It was one lively and enjoyable evening filled with live entertainment with a cause.

The success of the programme is attributed to the generous support of the sponsors, talented artists and master of ceremony, an appreciative audience and dedicated efforts of KCO.
