Keeping the City Clean RKM completes 381 of 400 Swacch Mangaluru Abhiyans

Mangaluru: Thirty-second week of 10 cleanliness drives of the 400 Abhiyans being organized by Ramakrishna Mission, Mangaluru took off on May 14, 2017 at 10 different venues.

372 Bendoorwell– Cleanliness drive was carried out by the students of Sahyadri Engineering College in the surrounding areas of Milagres Circle. Swami Nirbhayanandaji of Gadag Ramakrishna Vivekananda Ashrama and Swami Yogeshwaranandaji of Bangalore Ramakrishna Yogashrama jointly flagged off the drive. Capt Ganesh Karnik, MLC briefed the students about the drive and its significance. Many monks of Ramakrishna Vivekananda Ashram, Swami Prakashanandaji, Swami Abhyanandaji, Swami Brahmanishthanandaji, Swami Gurucharananandaji participated in the Abhiyan. Students cleaned the Kankanady road, Kankanady Market, Upper Bendoorwell road and the adjoining drains. Nitisha Rodrigues, Sachin Shetty, Sandhyashree and Navin Pilari guided the volunteers. Latha Ullal coordinated the drive.

373 Kodialbail– The members of Team Prerana participated in the cleanliness drive in Kodialbail. Jayashree Aravind flagged off the drive. The volunteers cleaned PVS Circle to Radha Medicals Road. They cleaned the roads and removed the garbage from the roadside areas, removed plastic bottles, papers etc. Sridhar patil, Venkat Reddy, Girish Rao, Ramachandra Rao and many others participated in the drive. Sadananda Upadhya coordinated the team.

374 Bondel– The members of Team Swacch Kavoor took up the drive from Bondel KHB to KIOCL area. Sriram Amin and Sangeetha Pawar flagged off the drive. They removed the plastic from the roadside and using JCB removed garbage lying for many days. Volunteers also removed the illegal banners. K N Shetty, Sadananda Rai, Ganesh Shetty guided the volunteers. The Students of Besant MBA College participated in the drive. Sudhakar Kavoor coordinated the team.

375 Hoige Bazar – The teammates of Nivedita Balaga carried out the drive Hoige Bazar area. Lekha and Neetha Rao flagged off the drive. The premises of Govt. Primary School was thoroughly cleaned. About 2 tippers of garbage were removed from the area. Vijayalakshmi coordinated the team of volunteers.

376 Jeppu– The devotees of Sri Amba Maheshwari Bhajana Mandir carried out the drive in Jeppu Market area. Ramesh Kottary and Malathi flagged off the drive. Volunteers installed a plaque containing Bus Timings in the local bus shelter benefiting the public. They also cleaned the bus shelter and removed the garbage lying on the road. They also distributed handbills about cleanliness in the nearby shops.

377 Padavinangady – The members of Team Friends for Ever took up the drive in Padavinangady area. Addl SP Sri Vedamurthi and Kasturi flagged off the drive. The areas surrounding Padavinangadi Katte and the adjoining drains of Airport Road and the road dividers were cleaned. The employees of Technip Ltd actively participated in the drive. Nirmal Kumar, Charan Prasad Adyanthaya, Carlo Coretto, P N Ravishankar and others participated in the drive. Shubhoday Alva coordinated the team.

378 Hampankatta – The Auto Drivers of Sri Krishna Bhavan Auto Union took up the drive in Hampankatta area. They cleaned the GHS Road and road leading towards Clock tower. Many Auto Drivers participated in the drive. Ganesh Bolar coordinated the team.

379 Yekkur – The Team members of Swacch Yekkur along with the devotees of Sri Ayyappa Swamy Bhajana Mandir carried out the drive in Yekkur. Bharath Shetty and Yashodhar Chowta flagged off the drive. They cleaned the Yekkur Tokil area. Shashidhar Yekkur and several others participated in the drive.

380 Jyothi – The members of Team Deshabhimani carried out the drive in Govt. Women’s College and premises. Srikar Prabhu led the team of volunteers in removing heaps of garbage lying in the college premises. They also cleaned the surroundings of the college compound. The Principal of the college, Chandrashekhar flagged off the drive. Ashwith and Nagesh Shenoy coordinated the team of volunteers.

381 Shediguri – The Employees of MCF Mangala carried out the drive in Shediguri area. K Prabhakar Rao, director of MCF and Sri Pushparaj flagged off the drive. Volunteers cleaned the roads and adjoining drains from Shediguri to Dambel. Using Grass cutting machine they cut the over grown grass and weeds in the area. The members of Dambel Friends Circle participated in the drive. Jayaram Karandur, Suresh P and many others participated in the drive.

381 abhiyans? What a wonderful accomplishments by these guys!! Meanwhile, there is still no sign of some elected reps and some of the institutions (who brag about spreading education and social work!). Yes – so much for lecturing on cleanliness and secular values that we hear from these usual suspects.

Maybe if these “abhiyaanis” could go and teach kids, then maybe those involved could have done some photo ops.
